NEW WANAKA DEVELOPMENT PROPOSED

December, 2009

Developers have lodged a resource consent application to proceed with the first stage of a 130-lot subdivision near Wanaka.

Crescent Investments Ltd has applied to create a 38-lot subdivision and designate land for a childcare facility on the Kirimoko Block.

The company is half-owned by Wanaka businessman Johannes May and half-owned by Don, Robyn and Warwick Church of Ashburton.

Don Church said at least eight lots in the first stage would be designated for affordable housing, through a partnership with the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust.

The affordable housing would be on smaller sections than the rest of the housing.

"It's not just a matter of drawing lines on paper," he said.
"We want it to be a premier subdivision. We want to be proud of it."

Innovative work by hydrologists meant the subdivision would contain its own stormwater, Mr Church said.
The Kirimoko Block is situated off Aubrey Rd and was opened to rural residential development in a plan change decision last year.
