September, 2010 A Queenstown real estate company is setting its sights Otago-wide, expanding into Dunedin and Balclutha where it has acquired the Harcourts franchises.Highland Real Estate Group Ltd, formerly trading as Queenstown Real Estate Ltd, operates Harcourts offices in Queenstown, Arrowtown and Cromwell and will have a team of more than 70, including 60 sales consultants, Otago-wide, after the October 1 acquisition. The team is headed by Highland Real Estate Group general manager Kelvin Collins, who has been a Queenstown Harcourts' franchise owner for more than 15 years. "Our move to form the largest real estate company in Otago means our staff and in turn their clients will now be able to benefit from the shared knowledge, skills and databases of a much larger team and also from the economies of scale that will allow us to have a dedicated auction manager, multiple auctioneers, full-time marketing and management support and more training." Highland is purchasing the two new franchises from Chris Kennedy, of Epic Realty, who has spent 18 years with the Harcourts group, 12 as a franchise owner. Mr Kennedy, of Dunedin, placed third this month in the Australasian auctioneering championships after winning the REINZ national championships in July. Experienced Queenstown real estate salesman Geoff Stevens will move to Dunedin to manage the local branch.
