October, 2011 DEVELOPMENT CHARACTER GUIDELINES SOUGHT BY QUEENSTOWN COUNCILFeedback is being sought on a guideline to make sure future development in the Cardrona Village contributes to and enhances the townships character. The Cardrona Village Character Guideline had its origins in the Cardrona 2020 Community Plan and follows the more recent development of a structure plan, intended to help guide future development in Cardrona Village. The guideline sets out a framework for future development on both public and private land within the village, Queenstown Lakes District Council senior policy analyst Ralph Henderson said. Were interested in hearing from anyone with thoughts on the issue. The draft guidelines were developed by Urbanism + and Pocock Design: Environment Ltd and have been reviewed by local Wanaka architect Anne Salmond. Copies of the draft guideline are available from the council offices, the Wanaka Library and Lakes Environmental Wanaka office and the Cardrona Hotel or the council website.
