October, 2011 Five homes sold for more than $1 million in Queenstown during September, bumping up the total value of sales for the month by 14 percent on August this year. Two homes - one at Lake Hayes and one at Millbrook - also sold for more than $2 million. Queenstown REINZ spokesman Kelvin Collins said there was also good demand for quality sections with five sales of sites in the $500,000 to $800,000 bracket: 2 - Kelvin Heights 2 - Millbrook 1- Tucker Beach Rd It's quite unusual to have that many in that sector, it's been inactive for some time. Some of the buyers were expats back in New Zealand planning to build in the future and move home, while the rest were local residents upgrading. It was a good sign, Mr Collins said. Meanwhile, a total of $30.5million worth of Queenstown property sold during September, up 14 percent compared with the $26.7 million sold in August this year and similar to the $29 million sold in September last year. The median dwelling price was $539,000, up 9 percent on the $495,000 recorded for August and up 12 percent on the $482,500 for September last year.
