January, 2021 An eight-screen cinema complex is in motion at QueenstownsRemarkables Park. Itll be in a four-level commercial building, designed by Dunedins Mason & Wales Architects bordered by Market Street and Golden Elm Lane and could be open by Christmas this year. Currently, theres no movie theatre in Frankton, so local movie-goers either get their flicks fix in the Queenstown CBD or in Arrowtown. Remarkables Park director Alastair Porter says hes got an operator lined up great company, good experience but wont release who that is. Subject to resource consent approval, hes hoping building excavation can start next month the tenders been awarded to Cook Brothers Construction. Well do our best to get the cinema open for Christmas, but the rest of the building, probably March next year. The ground floors slated for hospitality and retail outlets and the two floors above for office space. Source: Mountain Scene
