There was a total of 7,104 residential Housing sales throughout New Zealand during April 2013 compared with 5,676 in April 2012 and 8,128 sales in March 2013. The April five and ten year averages for the Number of Sales are 5,837 and 6,789 respectively. It took an average of 34 days to sell a dwelling in April 2013 compared with 37 days in April 2012. The April five and ten year averages for the Median Number of Days to Sell are 39 and 36 respectively. The national Median Sale Price in April 2013 was $390,500 compared with $365,000 in April 2012 and $ 400,000 in March 2013.
During the past six months there has been a total of 40,005 sales. This compares with 34,571 for the same period last year and 28,124 for the previous year. During the past twelve months there has been a total of 77,550 sales. This compares with 65,928 for the same period last year and 54,829 for the previous year.
During the past six months the median number of Days to Sell has averaged 35, compared to 39 for the same period last year and 45 for the previous year. During the past twelve months the median number of Days to Sell has averaged 35, compared to 40 for the same period last year and 44 for the previous year.
