There was a total of 5,316 residential Housing sales throughout New Zealand during December 2011 compared with 4,397 in December 2010 and 6,008 sales in November 2011. The December ten year average for the Number of Sales is 6,457. It took an average of 35 days to sell a dwelling in December 2011 compared with 40 days in November 2010 and 35 in October 2011. The November five and ten year averages for the Median Number of Days to Sell are 38 and 33 respectively. The national Median Sale Price in December 2011 was $355,000 compared with $352,000 in December 2010 and $367,500 in November 2011.
During the past six months there has been a total of 31,686 sales. This compares with 26,459 for the same period last year and 35,460 for the previous year. During the past twelve months there has been a total of 61,270 sales. This compares with 56,303 for the same period last year and 69,629 for the previous year.
During the past six months the median number of Days to Sell has averaged 37, compared to 42 for the same period last year and 34 for the previous year. During the past twelve months the median number of Days to Sell has averaged 42, compared to 47 for the same period last year and 41 for the previous year.
